MEM Awards is proud to announce the second of its confirmed judges for this year’s much anticipated manufacturing and engineering awards. The first confirmed judge for this year’s awards is Jane Robinson, Co-founder and Director, Cutting Technologies Ltd
Jane Robinson is co-founder and director of Cutting Technologies Ltd, a £3m turnover laser cutting and engraving business based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and a member of Regional Advisory Board of the EEF (Engineering Employers Federation).
She brings over 20 yearsâ experience in engineering and manufacturing and set up her first business in 2001. Along with two partners, she founded Cutting Technologies in 2003 and now employs 32. Jane has overseen a successful programme of diversification over the last 18 months, developing the creative and design-led elements of the business which has secured continued growth through difficult economic times.
Jane has shared her knowledge and opinions on subjects such as manufacturing, business, the economy and women in business with a variety of media outlets including The Times, Yorkshire Business Insider, The Guardian, BBC News, ITV news and BBC Radio Sheffield.
Speaking engagements include Tent London (part of London Design Festival), EEF breakfasts and local events such as JCI conferences. Jane was Highly Commended in the Businessperson of the Year category in Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerceâs 2012 awards.
Jane is passionate about bringing creativity to manufacturing and empowering people to think differently to grow the industry. Recently, she organised an exhibition to display the potential of laser technology in design, with exhibits ranging from a laser cut Perspex chair to a laser cut latex catsuit â something which raised a few eyebrows in the traditional world of engineering!
