IVECO has created and delivered a number of refuse collection vehicles to Riverside Truck Rental. These IVECO trucks will be the first from the manufacturer in Riversideâs 2,000-strong fleet. The new 16-tonne Eurocargo vehicles have been selected to become a part of Riverside Truck Rentalâs national spot hire operation. The main selling point for the IVECO vehicles was the low total cost of ownership and the suitability of Eurocargoâs compact chassis, ideal for use in urban environments and on narrow rural lanes.
The trucks have been supplied to the nationwide truck rental company by the Avonmouth-based IVECO manufacturer Aquila Truck Centres. The new refuse collection vehicles manufactured by IVECO are well suited to the low-speed and stop/start nature of refuse collection. As a part of this suitability, each of the trucks benefit from an Allison five-speed automatic transmission.
The Eurocargo model of these trucks are the only Europe VI medium-range vehicle that is able to meet the emission standards with the use of just one anti-emission system, the IVECO HI-SCR technology. This system is used by the vehicle manufacturer in order to utilise passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter. As a result, neither the driver involvement or downtime required from regeneration are required to maintain emissions standards., leading to a higher level of productivity for the drivers and the operators. This IVECO patented technology also removes the need for customers to operate the vehicle at motorway speeds in order to clear out the DPF.
